This piece is based on a spring 1985 ski trip to Broken Top volcano in the Oregon Cascades. We spent a warm day skiing from rim-to-rim, carving turns in the soft snow, wearing tee shirts and shorts.
At the time I wasn't aware that there is a glacial lake in the crater underneath the spring snow. I recently came across a photo of the lake in summer with it's water a turquoise tint; and I used that color in this painting to paint the creek which flows out of the lake in spring.

I like this one a lot, Rick--came out really well. Especially enjoy the stylized design of the stream.
